My Journey in MSU

Living here in MSU is not that always easy. There are many times I have experience aches, problems that makes me down. Lack of financial aspect sometimes force me to quit. Family problems makes me weak. But thanks be to God, he never fails to guide me all the days of my life!

My journey began as a completely oblivious high school student. Unaware of what college would bring, I decided to go to Marawi City and chose to attend the Mindanao State University for I know that this university will train and mold me as a better person. When I came here, I found my place in the department of Marketing and began to appreciate what would life could bring. In this department, I started dreaming big dreams. I found myself aiming higher despite of ups and downs that I have encountered.

I have a lot of experience here in MSU. I really feel that without God in my life, I can’t continue my studies. Many times, my parents told me that I should stop my studies because we don’t have enough money to sustain all my expenses. But still I continue my studying because I know that there is a solution for every problems. To support my studies, I sold banana delight, yema, chocoballs, and cosmetic products and even involve networking business. Even if it is very difficult to earn for a living at the same time studying my lessons, yet I manage my time wisely and work so hard to achieve my goals.

Once, I heard my instructor said, “"There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, learning from failure." I have always believed in, and following it, I have thrived and grown into a confident and determined being. My love affair with challenges has never come to a stop, and I believe it never will. I believe that welcoming challenges has played an important role in shaping my self-esteem. Being an obligated student, and above all a responsible family member has been no less than a challenge, but today I stand proud of myself for achieving this challenge. Since the beginning, I had a desire to learn and become someone extraordinary. Being a dreamer, I always planned on becoming a lot of things since childhood. When I was little, I wanted to be a teacher, a singer, a doctor, a business woman and a television broadcaster altogether. But as I grew old I realized that life is too short to become all of it, and that I should focus on one thing I was passionate about. Now, I wanted to be a successful entrepreneur someday, and I know that this is my greatest strength.  So I began selling products and get involved in any kind of business activities and that journey still hasn't ended.

My co-members in Apostolic Youth Campus Ministry (AYCM) are the persons who never stop helping me whenever I need helped. They are Grace, Ate Joy, Ate Beth, Ate Gracel, Jane, Danica, Che2x, Bebe, Lynlyn, Elbeth, Ate Ellen, Jun2x, Habib, Mia, Kuya Jomar, Kuya Jofel, Don2x, Mac2x, Joao, Jimboy, Gong2x, Kiking, Aljie, Joy2x, and Ate Jinky.   We intercede in the Golf Course or at the back of the Main Library to worship God. Whenever we have vacant times also, we decided to have lunch out, playing slipper games, bahug-bahugan, and dakpanay. We really enjoy playing them even if those games are bataot. After all, they are my true friends who are always in my side to make me feel that I am not alone. Because of them, I grow mentally, emotionally, socially and most of all spiritually. Whenever I also commit mistakes, they are the ones who give me reproaches. And I really thank God that he gave me this kind of friends who are always in my side whatever may happens.

AYCM Members after worship services.

These just are just a glimpse of my experience here in MSU but I want to share this thought: whatever circumstance that may come in your life, NEVER NEVER NEVER GIVE UP! Believe in God and believe in yourself. Remember, failure is not the result of your circumstance but rather it is the time to decide whether you will go on or you will quit. You may look like defeated but that will never be a reality because you are heading to the top. God is working! Only believe!

E-Commerce and Internet Marketing Seminar for a World Class Department

Last September 24, 2014, the Marketing 111 students of the Department of Entrepreneurial- Marketing organized a Seminar on E-commerce and Internet Marketing Essentials and Strategies held at Academic Complex. College of Law. This seminar teaches us on applying digital media to sell and promote products to our desired target markets. Having this kind of seminar, it is a very big opportunity for me to know the different techniques in order to make the business productive and profitable. The topics that they shared to us are Doing E-business in the ASEAN Community by Prof. Archie Lemuel Clark Velasco, E-Commerce on the Go: Its Process and Application discussed by Mr. Monju Khan, Web Advertising through Social Media Marketing explained by Ms. Charmaine Xy-Za O. Yape and Careers in Digital Media expounded by Ms. Lovette Jam P. Jacosalem.

From the guest speakers, I have learned different lessons that could help me to start my career in establishing online business. I have learned that in order that your online store will be effective, we should sell high diffrentiated products, choose the right domain for your online store and choose the right keyword for your sites. Not only that, we should also have an online presence and be active in social media  to get more customers. Creativity is very helpful also in managing and selling products online because it makes the customers  more interested and have good preference to your products. We must have the spirit of innovativeness, courage, decisiveness, and  patience.
With improving technology, including excellent online tools and lower costs, these characters will help us to be successful and achieve our goals in life.

So, let's start our online business today and believe that you can achieve your goals. Learn to take risk, and whatever happens, never give up. Let your dreams become a reality!
